Mata kuliah Sosiologi Pendidikan ini memberikan pemahaman tentang teori dan kajian dalam dunia pendidikan dengan pendekatan sosiologi dan konsep Islam, melalui pengenalan mahasiswa kepada sejumlah paradigma, teori dan kajian (literer dan penelitian lapangan) dalam sosiologi pendidikan, terkait fungsi pendidikan, kaitan pendidikan dengan terbentuknya stratifikasi dan deferensiasi sosial, industrialisasi, teknologi dan pengembangan ekonomi, ketimpangan social, sekolah/madrasah sebagai sistem dan struktur organisasi, proses interaksi dan sosialisasi di keluaarga, masyarakat dan sekolah/madrasah, kelas sebagai sistem social, hidden curriculum, pengembangan karakter dan pembentukan sumber daya manusia, keterkaitan Pendidikan dengan gender dan perubahan social di era kontemporer dan digital; khususnya menyangkut fungsi dan peran pendidikan, termasuk sistem sekolah/madrasah, pesantren dan pembelajaran di dalamnya; melakukan penelitian terkait pendidikan, menyusun menjadi naskah artikel dan mempublikasikannya ke jurnal bereputasi.
