Mata kuliah ini memberikan pemahaman tentang metode penelitian kualitatif secara teoretis maupun praksis dalam mengkaji fenomena sosial dalam masyarakat sehingga mampu memahami masyarakat yang dikaji. Dimulai dari kajian konsep dasar metode penelitian kualitatif dan bedanya dengan penelitian kuantitaif, menganalisis bebagai masalah sosial, mengangkat menjadi judul penelitian dan latarbelakang masalah, menyusun desain penelitian dan instrumen pengumpul data, menyusun teori, melakukan penelitian, serta menyusun laporan penelitian sebagai bahan skripsi, dan artikel yang dipublis di jurnal bereputasi nasional/internasional
